Mamata wanted to show strength to the Congress Party at the Centre by holding a massive protest rally against the petrol price hike in Kolkata. All Trinamaool leaders and cadres attended the rally.

Mamata slammed her own alliance government at the centre and demanded an immediate rollback. She termed the decision of the centre to hike the petrol prices as “unilateral” and “unjust” and clarified that her party was not consulted.

The Congress is watching Mamata’s steps with caution and has even roped in Mulayam Singh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party to bail it out in case Mamata withdraws support to the UPL II Government.
