Yogeshwar beat North Korea’s Myong Ri Jong 7-1 in the bronze medal play-off match on Saturday.

Earlier, he beat Franklin Gomez Matos of Puerto Rico 3-0 in the first round of the repechage. In the next round, he beat Masoud Esmmaeilpoorjouybari of Iran 4-0 to enter the play-off for the bronze medal.

Yogeshwar brought cheer in Indian camp when no hope was there to win medals after Indian hockey team lost to South Africa 2-3 to finish 12th in the Olympic men’s hockey on Saturday.

The players did not show any determination to win the match and South Africa bagged the chance to make their position strong.
