TNI Bureau: Students from five government schools in Odisha’s Kalahandi district have written 674 letters to the families of Kargil War martyrs under a unique initiative launched by the office of Rajya Sabha MP Sujeet Kumar.

The students penned heartfelt messages of gratitude, respect and remembrance for soldiers who laid down their lives during the 1999 Kargil War. Each letter was addressed to an individual martyr by name and regiment, making it a personal tribute to the soldier’s sacrifice.

The initiative involved students from Government Higher Secondary Schools at Bhatangpadar and Sagada, PM SHRI Municipal Government High School, Manikeswari High School and Government Girls’ High School in Bhawanipatna.

According to the MP’s office, the programme aims to instill patriotism, civic responsibility and gratitude among young students while helping them connect with the sacrifices made by the armed forces for the nation.

The initiative has been widely appreciated by school authorities and local communities, who described it as a meaningful tribute to Kargil heroes and an important step towards strengthening national pride among the youth.

To take the campaign beyond classrooms, the office of MP Sujeet Kumar has also launched a digital platform, “Ek Khat Vatan Ke Naam” (A Letter in the Name of the Nation), enabling people across the country to send letters of gratitude and remembrance to the families of Kargil martyrs. This initiative seeks to keep alive the legacy of the nation’s brave soldiers and inspire future generations.
