John Kerry confirmed as US Secretary of State

TNI Bureau: Veteran Senator John Kerry will be appointed as the new US Secretary of State replacing Hillary Clinton. The US confirmed his nomination today after the official swearing-in ceremony of President Barack H Obama at the White House last week.

Kerry (69) is currently the chairman of Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He is known for his relationship building approach and skills. He is a close associate of Obama and had proved his skills on foreign policy issues especially on the Afghanistan-Pakistan region.

Kerry was the first choice for the post after Hillary decided to be out of politics as secretary of state following her sickness. Hillary is recovering now; however, she did not show any interest to come back into politics. She preferred to be involved in philanthropy, advocacy, working on issues like women and girls.
