Jail Break plan foiled in Ahmedabad

Date:

TNI Bureau: The jail authorities on Monday discovered an 18-ft tunnel at the Sabarmati prison in Ahmedabad, which indicated that some inmates were planning to escape. The huge tunnel was reportedly dug by a group of men accused of serial blasts in 2008.

Jail authorities suspected that the accused of the serial blasts are civil engineers. They allegedly used their utensils to dig the tunnel through which they could escape.

The inmates were given utensils for meals. They started digging the tunnel in the garden near their cells when they were being allowed to work for three hours.

The accused have been kept separate in Barrack No 4. A probe has been ordered to find out whether any security personnel had been involved in the incident.
