TNI Bureau: Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs staged a protest on Friday, outside Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s office in Delhi, after ED raided I-PAC office in Kolkata.
TMC MPs, including Mahua Moitra, Kirti Azad and Derek O’Brien, were detained by Delhi Police while protesting outside Shah’s office.
Detained TMC MP Mahua Moitra said they had been detained and brought to Parliament Street police station, while protesting peacefully.
The protest was against the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids on the Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC) office, which the TMC claims is a politically motivated move to threaten the ruling party ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections which is scheduled to be held in 2026.
The ED raids were conducted at multiple locations in Kolkata and Delhi, including the residence of I-PAC chief Pratik Jain, in connection with a money laundering investigation.
TMC MPs alleged that the Centre is misusing central agencies to target the opposition.
It is pertinent to mention here that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday visited the I-PAC office during the raids, accusing the ED of attempting to seize sensitive documents related to party’s political, strategic information.
