In a shocking hate crime, a group of people attacked a Sikh-American Professor at Columbia University, after calling him as “Osama” and “Terrorist”. The victim was identified as School of International and Public Affairs Professor Prabhjot Singh.

Prabhjot was on a walk in the Harlem neighbourhood near New York when the assault took place. He was admitted to the hospital with a fractured jaw and swollen face. Many of teeth were displaced in the attack. Singh was later discharged from hospital.

While attacking Prabhjot, the assailants also pulled at his long beard. He was repeated punched and kicked. He had jsut returned from dinner and was having a walk after dropping his wife an one-year-old son at home when the incident took place.
