Date:

TNI Bureau: In another setback to West Bengal government, ABG-LDA, which is operated under the banner of Haldia Bulk Terminals, has decided to pull out of the state alleging breakdown of law and order system in the Haldia port area. The company accused that its employees were intimidated by miscreants and no action has been taken against them.

ABG-LDA has sent a letter to the Calcutta High Court terminating the contract to Kolkata Port Trust. The sudden exit from Bengal will be a huge blow to the government led by TMC chief Mamata Banerjee.

The move came after three officials of Haldia Bulk Terminals were abducted at gun point from their homes on Sunday. Earlier, the firm had threatened to suspend the operations after bearing huge losses as it was not given enough cargo to handle.
