TNI Bureau: A late-night firing incident outside the residence of senior BJD leader Pranab Prakash Das in Jajpur has triggered sharp political reactions, with the former minister launching a scathing attack on the state government’s law-and-order record.
In a strongly worded post, Das condemned the incident as a “naked reflection” of a collapsing policing system under what he termed a “directionless and insensitive” government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party. He alleged that criminals have become fearless, while ordinary citizens are left anxious and vulnerable.
The BJD leader expressed deep concern over the safety of his family, stating that gunfire outside his home has eroded his trust in the police administration. He argued that such incidents highlight the growing insecurity among the public, suggesting a wider breakdown of governance.
Demanding swift action, Das called for the immediate arrest of those involved and exemplary punishment to deter future crimes. He warned that failure to act decisively would indicate tacit support for criminal elements.
The incident has intensified the political narrative in Odisha, with law and order emerging as a key flashpoint between the opposition Biju Janata Dal and the ruling BJP.
