Freedom Fighter Purushottam Nayak dies at 104

Odisha News-4Veteran Freedom Fighter from Odisha, Shri Purushottam Nayak breathed his last at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack at the age of 104. He was also a former MLA of Kendrapara. Shri Nayak was admitted to the medical following some aging problems.

Purushottam Nayak hailed from Sathapara village of Derabish block in Kendrapara district. He was actively involved in the freedom struggle and dedicated his life to the service of the nation. He was elected as MLA of Kendrapara in 1952.

Minister, Forest & Environment, Parliamentary Affairs Shri Bikram Keshari Arukha has expressed his deep condolences over the demise of Shri Nayak. In his condolence he has said, “Purushottam Nayak was a well-known personality in the field of our freedom struggle. As a veteran freedom fighter, his contributions were notable. He had represented Kendrapara Constituency as MLA. He had taken many steps for the development of Kendrapara. His demise is and will be an irreparable loss for people of Kendrapara as well as of our state”.

Odisha Governor SC Jamir, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and many other Ministers and leaders, including Panchayatiraj & Law Minister Arun Sahoo, Sports & Youth Services Minister Sudam Marandi, Handlooms & Textiles Minister Snehangini Chhuria, Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathy and Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sanjay Das Burma have condoled the death of Shri Purushottam Nayak.
