Former Balangir Collector Debraj Mishra Arrested

Odisha-Govt-LogoIn a big development this morning, the Vigilance has arrested senior OAS officer and former Balangir Collector Debraj Mishra from his Bhubaneswar residence in connection with the ‘job scam’ related to the appointment of Revenue Inspectors (RIs) and Amins. He was earlier suspended by the state government on September 10, 2014.

The Crime Branch on September 1, had registered a case against Debraj Mishra and five others – OAS officers Anita Panda, Binod Bihari Das, Raghunath Mundari, Ripunath Suna and senior clerk Niranjan Tripathy in connection with the recruitment scam.

During the tenure of Debraj Mishra as the Balangir Collector from August 2012 to July 2013, an advertisement was published for 13 posts of RI, ARI and Amin. However, 64 candidates were selected to fill up the vacancies following the examination on June 9, 2013.
