TNI Bureau: The Jammu and Kashmir police took strong action against the online abusers, who had threatened the girls’ music band, by filing an FIR against the accused. Even the government talked tough against the online abusers and the fatwa issued against the rock band by the Muslim clerics.

Expressing anger against J&K Grand Mufti, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that fatwa is against the spirit of Kashmiriyat and promised full security to the girls. He said that the behaviour of online abusers was un-Islamic.

The police action came after an online threat was given to the All-Girl Rock Band. The talented girls had to stop all their activities and quit, after the Grand Mufti issued a fatwa against them on Monday.

The Muslim clerics said that the girls should be under the veil and they should not sing in public. Grand Mufti, Bashir-ud-Din, blamed women for the increase in crimes against them saying, such activities (girls’ participation in music and fashion) are the reason behind the growing number of sexual assaults in the country.

However, the opposition party People’s Democratic Party’s Mehbooba Mufti slammed the fatwa against the girls saying it was unreasonable. She had urged the government to intervene in the matter.

It is not understood, who is actually ruler of the land to dictate the order, the government of India or the Muslim clerics…..
