TNI Bureau: Team India produced shameless batting display at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, but Ravichandran Ashwin showed great character by taking the game to avoid an innings defeat and take the game to Day 5.
From 86/0, India slumped to 122/6 at one stage. Sehwag scored 49, followed by Gambhir (40) and Virat Kohli (20). Pujara (8), Tendulkar (5), Yuvraj (11) and Dhoni (0) failed before the England bowling attack.
At close, India finished at 239/9 with a lead of 32 runs. Ashwin is batting on 83. For England, Finn took three wickets, while Anderson and Panesar took two wickets each.
It would be interesting to see whether Ashwin can score his second test hundred tomorrow or not. England are all set to take a 2-1 invincible lead in the series. India is heading for a defeat in Kolkata after a long gap of 13 years.
