E-auction for Liquor Shop License gets Odisha Cabinet Nod

Date:

Bhubaneswar: The proposal for e-auction process for liquor shop license finally got a nod from Odisha Cabinet today. The meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik decided to introduce the system from this year. As per the government’s decision, the contract will be valid for next three years.

The move came after Chief Secretary BK Patnaik had proposed at a meeting last month in favour of the e-auction to bring transparency in the system. He had said that the state will get more revenue from the excise sector if the new system will come into force.

The auction for the country and foreign liquor shop licences had taken place in 2005. The licences were being renewed every year.
