Sprinter Dutee Chand, the Golden Girl of KIIT and a student of School of Law, KIIT University, was given a rousing welcome upon her arrival in KIIT on September 12. Dutee returned to Bhubaneswar after a very successful outing at the 53rd National Open Athletics Championships in Ranchi, where she won two gold medals in 100m and 200m.
The Sports Department of KIIT welcomed her as she reached Bhubaneswar at 8.00 AM yesterday. She was taken on a procession to KIIT University Campus. Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS felicitated her in front of 20 thousand students of KISS. Informing the students about her success, Dr. Samanta said, “she won gold medals in 100m and 200m race and became the fastest woman in the country, which is a record for the state.”
Dutee is third among the seven siblings – six sisters and one brother. She is inspired by her elder sister and renowned international fame athlete, Saraswati Chand, she said, while expressing gratitude to Dr. Samanta for motivation, encouragement and support to pursue her dream.
