Former Odisha Law Minister Raghunath Mohanty and his wife Pritilata had to spend three days in jail, but finally were granted bail by a local court in Balasore today. SDJM Ranjan Kumar Sutar granted bail to them on security of Rs 10,000 each and surety.
Raghu Mohanty and his wife were arrested in Howrah by the Human Rights Protection Cell (HRPC) and Crime Branch of Odisha and produced in the court on March 30. Their son Rajashree Mohanty is still in jail.
Raghu Mohanty’s daughter-in-law Barsha Soni Choudhury has brought dowry torture allegations against the family. She also accused her husband Rajashree of having extra-marital affairs. Raghunath Mohanty’s daughter Rupashree and son-in-law Subhendu Madhual are still absconding in connection with the case.
