The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) scored a thrilling 12-run victory over the Sunrisers Hyderabad to win two matches in a row in CLT20. Dhoni and Raina played the anchor role in CSK victory, while Darren Sammy’s cameo did not work.
Hyderabad won the toss and elected to field first. Chennai scored 202/4 in 20 overs. Raina made 84 off 57 balls, while Mike Hussey scored 23. Skipper Dhoni was ruthless, as scored an unbeaten 63 off 19 balls with 1 boundary and 8 sixes. Dhoni hit Perera for 34 in an over with 5 sixes and 1 boundary. For Hyderabad, Duminy and Steyn took two wickets each.
In reply, Sunrisers Hyderabad fought hard, but fell short of the target by 12 runs. Dhawan (48) and Parthiv Patel (37) added 88 in 9.2 overs. But, Sunrisers lost the way after the fall of Patel, Duminy and Dhawan in quick succession. They managed to score 190/7 in 20 overs. Darren Sammy made 50 off 25 balls, but that was not enough. Jason Holder took two wickets. Raina was declared ‘Man of the Match’.
