Dhabe-da-Punjab Food Festival at Hotel Kalinga Ashok

The Phulbani Restaurant at Hotel Kalinga Ashok, Bhubaneswar, is hosting Dhabe-da Punjab food festival from 15th November to 17th November, 2013 for cultivating the taste buds of food lovers of Bhubaneswar and to promote the rich cultural heritage of the agricultural land of Punjab.

Kalinga-Ashok2Mr. Samant Kumar, General Manager said that it has always been their endeavors at Hotel Kalinga Ashok to achieve service excellence in guest experience and to tease the taste buds of the people of Bhubaneswar with their gourmet.  He invited the people of Bhubaneswar for mouth-watering, aromatic and delicious Punjabi delicacies from the land of five rivers—Punjab.

Chef Chandan Kumar with his team have taken special efforts to bring in the authentic culinary from Punjab like Malaiwala Patiala Lassi, Lehsuni Tikki, Kadhi Punjabi, Peshawari Chana, Sindhi Gulbadan, Murg Kali Mirch, Tandoori Chicken Mogewala, Achari Mutton, Amritsari Macchi, Tandoori Paneer, Tadka Dal fry, Jalandhari Missi Roti, Mooli Da Parantha, Anda parantha, Gajjar Halwa etc. Mr Abhijit Pal, Food & Beverage Manager said that in Punjabi food the spice content ranges from minimal to pleasant to high.

Kalinga-Ashok1They make a liberal use of desi ghee, butter and creams to make the food lips smacking and finger licking. Pulses or dals cooked on slow fire and flavoured with characteristic Punjabi tadka, constitute major items of the meal. Gravy is prepared by using the basic mix of onion, tomato, ginger, garlic, chillies and liberal dose of spices.

The décor at the venue with Dhaba, earthen pots and lanterns light fittings contribute to create Punjabi experience. The menu has been printed on traditional Pankha.

In the last couple of months, Hotel Kalinga Ashok is doing very good business. The occupancy has increased manifold and sale has doubled as compared to last year. From this week they are ready with some of the renovated rooms to boost their occupancy.
