TNI Bureau: Odisha Vigilance arrested Sukma Hansdah, Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Dasmantpur Police Station in Koraput district, while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.
According to Vigilance officials, Hansdah was the investigating officer in a case in which an accused had been sent to judicial custody. The court had sought the case diary for hearing the bail application. It is alleged that the IIC demanded Rs 20,000 from a relative of the accused to submit the case diary in court.
Following a complaint, Vigilance officials laid a trap and caught Hansdah red-handed while receiving the bribe amount. The entire sum of Rs 20,000 was recovered from his possession and seized.
After the arrest, Vigilance teams conducted simultaneous searches at two locations linked to the officer to check for disproportionate assets.
