Crocodile Population on rise in Bhiitarkanika

TNI Bureau: The crocodile population in Bhitarkanika National Park in Odisha’s Kendrapara distict has risen by three over the last year. The exact crocodile head count now stands at 1,649 as compared to 1,646 in 2011.

Four long crocodiles measuring over 20 feet were also found during the crocodile census. The counting was conducted between December 30 and January 4. Forest officials, environmentalists and NGOs were involved in the operation.
