Congress woos Mulayam, ready to dump Mamata

Date:

TNI Bureau: The latest reports suggest that Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav may perhaps agree to back the UPA candidate in the upcoming Presidential Polls in order to keep distance from the BJP, which is said to be behind the entire crisis.

The Congress launched an all-out offensive to reach out Mulayam Singh Yadav throughout the day yesterday and if we believe the sources, Netaji has agreed to support Pranab Mukherjee as the next President and assured the Congress that he won’t do anything to topple the UPA II Government.

The Congress has now decided to dump Mamata Banerjee and part ways with the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal. The party is angry and upset the way Mamata triggered a crsis in the UPA and embarrassed Sonia Gandhi.

Mamata has now turned to the NDA and called Nitish Kumar last night to seek his support for APJ Abdul Kalam as the next President. Nitish, who received Kalam at the Patna Airport yesterday, has invited the former President for a lunch today.

The crucial NDA meeting will be held at 11 AM today, while the UPA will hold its meeting at 4 PM. The political activity in Delhi has now heated up. The picture will be clear by this evening.
