Congress MP Rasheed Masood sent to 4 Years in Jail

In a big development, a CBI court has sentenced Congress’ Rajya Sabha MP Rasheed Masood to four years in jail, making him disqualified as the Parliamentarian.

Rasheed MasoodMasood, who created a stir by saying that a full meal is available in Delhi’s Jama Masjid area for just Rs 5, has been found guilty by a special CBI court in connection with a medical seat allotment fraud of 1991.

He was found guilty of nominating several undeserving candidates to the MBBS seats allotted to Tripura during his tenure as the MoS Health in 1990-91 during VP Singh’s tenure as the Prime Minister. Born on August 15, 1947, Rasheed Masood had been with Janata Party, Lok Dal and Samajwadi Party before joining the Congress.

After Lalu Prasad Yadav, who was convicted on Monday in connection with the fodder scam, Masood became the second MP to lose his seat in the Parliament.

He was found guilty of nominating several undeserving candidates to the MBBS seats allotted to Tripura during his tenure as the MoS Health in 1990-91 during VP Singh’s tenure as the Prime Minister. Born on August 15, 1947, Rasheed Masood had been with Janata Party, Lok Dal and Samajwadi Party before joining the Congress.
