TNI Bureau: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today laid the foundation stone for the construction of the new Odisha Bhavan in New Delhi. The Chief Minister said the architectural design of the new building will reflect Odisha’s rich heritage, art, and cultural traditions.
The existing Odisha Bhavan has become outdated and lacks adequate space and modern facilities. Keeping present requirements in view, the new building will be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹93.27 crore. The project has completed the tender process and construction work will begin soon.
The proposed structure will consist of three basements, a ground floor, and six additional floors, with 45 modern suites equipped with contemporary amenities. The first floor will include an exhibition area, while the second floor will house a conference hall with a seating capacity of around 70 people.
To strengthen administrative coordination and cultural ties across the country, the State Government plans to construct Odisha Bhavans in several major cities. New Odisha Bhavans are proposed in Ayodhya, Bengaluru, and Surat, and land has been requested from the respective state governments.
The Chief Minister informed that Odisha Bhavans in Kolkata, Chennai, and Mumbai are already operational. A proposal is also under consideration for constructing an additional building in Mumbai to better serve the public. A dedicated division will be created for the maintenance and management of all Odisha Bhavans and guest houses.
He further announced that a Janashraya Bhavan will be constructed near Master Canteen Square in Bhubaneswar to provide affordable accommodation for people visiting the capital on urgent work. The facility will offer low-cost lodging for up to three days.
