Centre rules out immediate hike in Diesel, LPG Prices

Date:

TNI Bureau: While the country is reeling under the Rs 7.50 per litre hike in petrol prices, Oil Minister S Jaipal Reddy has ruled out any immediate hike in diesel, kerosene and LPG prices.

The Oil Minister further added that the Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) will take a final decision on this matter. No date has been fixed when the EGoM will meet in future.

This news came as a big relief to the common people at least for the time being, as it is clear that there won’t be any hike in diesel, kerosene and LPG prices immediately.

Jaipal Reddy has revealed that he has written a letter to the Finance Ministry, seeking higher excise duty on diesel cars. However, it is not known whether it would be approved or not.
