Central Government identifies 58 districts for New Medical Colleges

The Central Government is implementing a Centrally Sponsored Scheme for “Establishment of Medical Colleges attached with existing District/Referral hospitals” in underserved areas of the country. 58 districts in 20 States/UTs have been identified under the scheme.

This initiative would result in increase of 5800 MBBS seats in the country.  The Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Shri J P Nadda stated this in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.
