CCTV Cameras Halted on Puri Sea Beach

TNI Bureau: Under severe criticism from the public and tourists, the district administration in Puri has stopped recording of the CCTV footage on Puri sea beach. The District Collector has initiated a probe into the allegations that CCTV cameras captured women bating in the sea.

Pending probe, the CCTV service provider has been asked to stop recording the footage with immediate effect. The surveillance cameras were put on Puri sea beach for security purpose. However, the tourists have alleged they infringed upon their privacy and put the women at risk.

Puri District Collector Naba Kumar Nayak clarified that if the CCTV camers are found breaching privacy of the tourists, the angle of camers could be changed.
