TNI Bureau: Acting on the direction of State Unit President Manmohan Samal, a high-level delegation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) visited the Sijimali area under Kashipur block in Rayagada district to assess the ground situation.
The delegation, led by Nabarangpur MP Balabhadra Majhi, reviewed issues related to a mining lease granted in 2023 during the previous Biju Janata Dal (BJD) government.
Protesters have alleged several legal irregularities in the lease process, leading to opposition from local residents against road construction in the mining zone.
Speaking after the visit, Majhi said, “No injustice will be done to anyone.” He added that discussions were held with local residents, protestors, police officials, administrative authorities, and the district collector to understand the situation in detail.
Locals submitted memorandums highlighting concerns, including alleged administrative excesses, harassment, and filing of false cases. Some even claimed that women and children were detained at night without valid reasons.
The BJP team assured that all grievances would be addressed and the truth would be placed before Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and the state leadership. The delegation emphasized that necessary steps would be taken to ensure justice and restore normalcy in the region.
Several party leaders and representatives accompanied the team during the visit.
