TNI Bureau: In a sharp and unapologetic rebuttal to recent criticisms, BJP’s National Vice President and Kendrapada MP Baijayant Panda has strongly defended the legacy of legendary statesman Biju Patnaik, calling attempts to question his patriotism “ludicrous” and “unacceptable.”
Referring to him with personal warmth as “Biju uncle,” Panda underscored that Biju Patnaik was far more than just Odisha’s tallest leader of his time; he was a national icon and one of the foremost patriots of modern India. At a time when the country was finding its footing as a young republic, Biju Patnaik’s contributions cut across domains, leaving an indelible mark on India’s political and strategic landscape.
Panda highlighted that national pride was not merely a sentiment for Biju Patnaik, but a driving force that defined his life’s work. From his daring exploits as a pilot during India’s freedom struggle to his role as an industrialist shaping economic growth, and later as a political leader and global troubleshooter, his multifaceted contributions strengthened the nation in its formative years.
The BJP leader emphasized that Biju Patnaik’s heroic missions, coupled with his diplomatic and defence initiatives, played a crucial role in safeguarding India’s sovereignty and elevating its global standing. Such a legacy, Panda argued, cannot and should not be diminished by what he described as uninformed and politically motivated attacks.
In a direct swipe at critics, Panda asserted that casting aspersions on Biju Patnaik’s patriotism reflects a lack of historical understanding and respect. “Such attacks are unworthy and totally unacceptable,” he stated, reinforcing the need to rise above partisan narratives when it comes to towering figures of national importance.
As political tempers flare over historical interpretations, Panda’s remarks serve as a reminder that the legacy of leaders like Biju Patnaik transcends party lines, rooted instead in sacrifice, courage, and an unwavering commitment to the nation.
