The mighty Australian team are all set for a crushing defeat against India in the Chennai Test. They just managed to take the match to fifth day, as India failed to get the last wicket on Day 4. The unbeaten 57-run partnership between Moises Henriques and Nathan Lyon for the last wicket, has frustrated the Indian bowlers.
In reply to Australia’s 380, India posted 552, thanks to skipper MS Dhoni’s 224. Indian spinners wrecked the havoc with a 192-run lead coming to their advantage. Australia lost wickets at regular intervals. They narrowly avoided an innings defeat. Australia finished at 232/9 at close on Day 4.
In the second innings, Indian pacer Ishant Sharma bowled just three overs towards the end, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar did not even bowl a single over. Spinners Ashwin, Harbhajan and Ravindra Jadeja shared all 20 Australian wickets in this match among themselves.
Ashwin, who took seven in the first innings, added five more to his account in the second innings. Harbhajan and Jadeja took two wickets each in the second innings. Moises Henriques impressed on his debut. He scored 68 in the first innings and batting on 75 in the second.
