While ace spinner Harbhajan Singh managed to take just one wicket in his 100th Test appearance, Ravichandran Ashwin took seven wickets to restrict Australia at 380 in the first innings in Chennai Test. Clarke led the way with a brilliant 130.

For Australia, Ed Cowan (29), Warner (59), Watson (28) and Henriques (68) were the other contributors. Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets. This is Ashwin’s best bowling figure in Test cricket.

India lost Murali Vijay and Virender Sehwag early. Pattinson took both wickets. India were 20/2 when reports last received.
