Anu Garg becomes first Woman Chief Secretary of Odisha

TNI Bureau: In a significant administrative development, senior IAS officer Anu Garg has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Odisha. She will be the first woman IAS officer to hold the post of Chief Secretary in Odisha.

The General Administration and Public Grievance Department on Wednesday issued a notification in this regard.

Garg, a 1991-batch IAS officer, will succeed Manoj Ahuja, who will retire from service on December 31. She will take charge as the new Chief Secretary of Odisha from January 1, 2026.

She is currently serving as Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Planning and Convergence Department with additional charges of Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Water Resources Department.

Originally from Uttar Pradesh, Garg worked in multiple districts of Odisha as Collector and District Magistrate from 1992 to 2003.
