Andhra By-Polls: Voting underway amid Tight Security

TNI Bureau: The voting for by elections in the Nellore Lok Sabha and 18 assembly constituencies in Andhra Pradesh is underway amid tight security on Tuesday. Today is an acid test for YSR Congress chief Jagan, who is lodged in jail in illegal assets case.

The polling began at 8 am and will continue till 5 pm. Voters were seen standing in queues in the morning. They will cast their votes at 5,413 polling stations for Nellore Lok Sabha seat and 18 assembly seats including Parkal, Narsannapeta, Payakaraopet, Ramachandrapuram, Narasapuram, Polavaram (ST), Prathipadu (SC), Macherla, Ongole, Udayagiri, Rajampet, Kodur (SC), Rayachoty, Allagadda, Yemmiganur, Rayadurg, Anantapur Urban and Tirupati in 12 districts.

The outcome of the by-polls will be crucial for Jagan, who is fighting battle with the Congress. It may give new direction to Andhra Pradesh politics.
