TNI Bureau: The Odisha government has requested the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) to include 151 additional vacancies in the Odisha Civil Services Examination, following the intervention of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
The OPSC had recently issued the notification for the Odisha Civil Services Examination 2025. However, reports of zero vacancies in certain cadres, including the Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) and Odisha Revenue Service (ORS), had caused dissatisfaction among aspirants.
After reviewing the matter, the Chief Minister directed the concerned departments to reassess vacant positions and take immediate steps to fill them. Subsequently, the state government requested OPSC to fill 14 posts in the Odisha Administrative Service (OAS), 113 posts in the Odisha Revenue Service (ORS), 16 posts in the Odisha Transport Service (OTS), and eight posts in the Odisha Welfare Service (OWS). This takes the total number of additional posts to 151.
The move is expected to benefit a large number of aspirants, providing them with an opportunity to compete for these posts through the civil services examination.
The Chief Minister said the state government is giving top priority to recruitment and informed that nearly 40,000 government posts have been filled over the last 18 months.
He also directed all departments to ensure that all vacant posts available up to the date of notification are recommended to the respective recruitment commissions, so that they can be filled through upcoming examinations.
