Odisha Sahitya Akademi gets New President

Date:

After noted writer Rama Chandra Behera resigned before the expiry of his term in a controversial manner, another renowned author Satakadi Hota was appointed as the new President of the Odisha Sahitya Akademi. He will hold the office for three years. Earlier, Rama Chandra Behera expressed his dissatisfaction, as the government started looking for a new president much before the completion of his term.

According to government sources, Rama Chandra Behera was appointed in 2010 for two years, but his term was extended, as the government was undecided over the new President. Mr. Behera was supposed to retire on June 30, 2013.

“Since the name of the next President was circulated across the state even though my term was not expired, I quit to avoid any confusion about my term and role,” he said.
