TNI Bureau: A spirited India held their nerves to score a thrilling 2-1 victory over arch-rival Pakistan, but they failed to qualify for the finals. New Zealand qualified for the final with a 4-1 win over Malaysia – their fourth win in five matches.

India now can hope for a podium finish, if they win against their opponents in the play-off. India will take on either Argentina or Britain in the bronze medal match.

For India, Sandeep Singh scored in the 30th minute to give India a lead. Sohail Abbas scored the equaliser in the 59th minute. SV Sunil scored the winning goal in the 69th minute to seal the victory in India’s favour.

In other matches, New Zealand beat Malaysia 4-1, while South Korea held Britain to a 1-1 draw.
