TNI Bureau: In a shocking development, female friend of a SOG ASI was kidnapped from the Matkhai area on the Balangir-Titilagarh road yesterday as per police complaint lodged at the Sadar Police Station, Balangir. The Balangir police have launched a massive hunt to trace the girl and her abductors. One person was taken into custody for interrogation.

As per the reports, one Debadutta Mallick of village Junapadar in the Bangomunda block of Balangir District, who happens to be the SOG ASI of Rayagada, had gone to visit the Matkhai temple along with her girl friend yesterday. As per the complaint, 4 to 5 unknown people followed them from Balangir and demanded an extortion money of Rs. 5000, but he denied. When they asked about the girl’s identity, he said that she is her would-be wife. He also tried to get help from a private bus going towards Balangir.
In the mean time, the culprits manhandled Mallick and reportedly took the girl using force. After Mallick took the matter to the Sadar Police Station in Balangir, the police went to the spot and started their investigation. While one person was apprehended, others are still at large.
