Cook hits Ton, England fight back in Ahmedabad Test
TNI Bureau: A fine unbeaten 168 by skipper Alastair Cook and unbeaten 84 by Matt Prior helped England stage a great comeback in the first test match against India at Motera, Ahmedabad. After following on, England ended Day 4 at 340/5 – leading by 10 runs with 5 wickets in hand.
In reply to India’s 521/8 declared, England scored just 191 in the first innings. In the second innings, the England batsmen applied themselves and faced the Indian spinners with great resolve. Cook and Nick Compton (37) added 123 runs for the first wicket, while Cook and Prior have added unbeaten 141 runs for the sixth wicket so far.
For India, Umesh Yadav and Pragyan Ojha have taken two wickets each. R Ashwin remained wicketless in the second innings. India would be looking forward to wrap up the England innings below 100-120 and then go for a victory.
