Mahindra & Mahindra Launches the Rexton SUV in India

TNI Bureau: Mahindra & Mahindra on Wednesday launched the Rexton, first high-end SUV under Sang Yong banner at a starting price of Rs 17.67 lakh for Manual transmission model and Rs 19.67 lakh for the Automatic transmission model. The Rexton RX5 is the Manual while the RX7 is the AWD Automatic models.

The Rexton is the first product from the SsangYong product portfolio to be launched in India after Mahindra acquired the Korean company in March 2011.However, the Rexton is not new to the world streets and currently sells in 66 countries around the world, including markets like Korea, Europe and Russia.

SsangYong will offer two gearbox options on the Rexton W in India, a five-speed manual and five-speed automatic gearbox. It also restyled front end with inserting 2.0 liter diesel engine. And developed 156PS of power and 360Nm of torque.

Mahindra’s new SUV Rexton is loaded with safety features like Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, Enhanced Parking Brake Technology, Forward Collision Warning and Avoidance System, ABS with EBD, ESP and SRS airbags as standard equipment.

The cosmetic tweaks include a completely new front end with a new bonnet, bumper, grille, side aprons, headlights, fog lamps and indicators on the outside rear-view mirrors. At the back, a new bumper and new taillights complete the face-lift.

Mahindra & Mahindra also has utility vehicles namely XUV 500, Scorpio, Bolero and Xylo MPV in India.

The Rexton will take on the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and the Ford Endeavour.
