TNI Bureau: People of Odisha will miss the Governor Muralidhar Chandrakant Bhandare as he completed his 5-year tenure. However, he will continue in his office till his successor is appointed.
Bhandare completed his tenure as Odisha Governor on Monday. He was appointed as the 43rd Governor of the state on 21 August, 2007. After he gives his charge to his successor, he will miss Odisha people, their love and affection that he had been receiving since 5 years.
“The people of Odisha are peace-loving and happy in spite of their poverty. You cannot find such happy people elsewhere in India,” Bhandare said in an emotional tone on the sidelines of a function in the state capital on Monday.
He described Odisha as rich in culture and mineral resources. He said that he was optimistic to see the state as a prosperous region of the country with 90 per cent literacy by 2017.
During his tenure Bhandare has taken some steps to promote the rich culture and tradition of the state. He had introduced the Governor’s Trophy at the district and state levels for the youths, who have contributed to music, dance and folk culture.
He had also launched ‘Gyanalok’ programme for universities under which the students visit remote areas of the state and make the rural people aware of literacy and education.
