Despite their best efforts, Vidarbha could score 382 in the first innings in reply to Odisha’s 453/6 declared and conceded the crucial three points in a Ranji Trophy match. Odisha had lost their first match against Punjab by an innings and 48 runs.

In the first innings, Subhrajit Sahu (114) and Niranjan Behera (131) guided the team well. For Vidarbha, Jungade took four wickets. When Vidarbha batted, Faiz Fazal scored a brilliant hundred (124). Hemang Badani (65) and Rashmi Ranjan Parida (60) were the other top contributors. Basant Mohanty took five wickets.
Odisha earned three points from the match by virtue of 71-run first innings lead. Vidarbha had to be content with just one point.
