India defeated hosts Malaysia 3-0 in the final to win the 3rd Sultan of Johor Cup at Johor Bahru. The U-21 Indian team remained unbeaten in the tournament. In the final, goals were scored by Amon Tirkey (22nd), Affan Yousuf (55th) and Manpreet (64th).
In the group stage, India and Malaysia finished at same points with four wins and a draw in five games. However, India secured the top slot on a better goal difference. In the final, the Indian Colts did not give any chance to the Malaysian players to come back.
The Hockey India has announced a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh for each member of the India U-21 team.
