TNI Bureau: Shooter Vijay Kumar brought laurels to the country by winning a silver medal in 25m meter rapid fire pistol. However, it was a heartbreak for Saina Nehwal in Badminton, as she lost in the semifinals. She can still hope for a bronze medal.

Controversy marred the London Olympics, as India was cheated of a medal in Boxing.  Indian boxer Vikas Krishan (69kg) was today ousted from the Olympics after his victory was overturned by the  International Boxing Association (AIBA).

Shooting: Vijay Kumar won the silver medal in the 25m rapid fire pistol event with a score of 30 in the final. Joydeep Karmakar missed out on a bronze medal in the 50m rifle prone event, as he finished fourth in the final. Gagan Narang failed to qualify for the finals in the same event.

Hockey:  India suffered their third straight defeat in Hockey at 2012 London Olympics to crash out of the medal race. India lost 2-5 to Germany. India had earlier lost to the Netherlands 2-3 and to New Zealand 1-3.

Badminton: Saina Nehwal lost to World No. 1 Wang Yihan 21-13, 21-13 in straight sets in the semifinals. She will now be in a contention for the bronze medal.

Atheletics: Shot putter Om Prakash Singh and triple jumper Mayookha Johny failed to make it to the final rounds. They finished 19th and 22nd in their respective categories. Krishna Poonia qualified for the women’s discus throw final round. However, Seema Antil failed to qualify in the same event.

Boxing: Indian boxer Vikas Krishan (69kg) was declared winner in his pre-quarterfinal bout against his American opponent Errol Spence with a scoreline 13-11. However, the decision was later overturned by the International Boxing Association (AIBA), which declared Spence winner on 15-13.
