Taliban Militants target Presidential Palace in Kabul
The Taliban militants launched a daring attack on the Presidential Palace and the CIA Office in Kabul this morning. Fortunately, there were no causalities. All three or four militants were gunned down in a fierce gunbattle.
The militants armed with heavy guns and grenades launched the attack early in the morning. The gunbattle lasted for an hour or so. A car laden with explosives was also used in the attack.
The militants could not breach the main grounds at the President’s Palace due to fierce opposition from the security personnel. President Hamid Karzai was due to hold a press meet this morning, but cancelled after the incident.
