TNI Bureau: According to national media reports, quoting the general diary entry at Parliament Street police station, a Delhi Police DCP rank officer had ordered the use of anti-riots guns during the July 20 student protests at Jantar Mantar.

“On the orders of the DCP, the RAF Deputy Commandant fired 55 rounds of non- electrical shell, 15 rounds of electrical shell, five tear smoke granite, two rounds with plastic pellets from an anti-riot gun”, the diary reads.

The Delhi Police had initially denied the reports, then sought to pass the buck to CRPF. However, the latest revelations confirmed that it was Delhi Police which took the decision to use pellet guns at the students. A 19-year-old youth suffered heavy pellet gun injury and may lose the vision in one eye, reports suggest. Several others suffered pellet injuries during the protests, it’s reported.
