TNI Bureau: Two powerful earthquakes, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude have left Venezuela reeling, with the death toll climbing to nearly 1,000 and around 50,000 people still missing. At least 3,360 others have been critically injured.
The number of people killed in the twin earthquakes has risen to 920. Around 50,000 people are still missing, raising fears that the number of fatalities may rise in the coming days.
National emergency teams, supported by military units are working around the clock. More than 8,000 people have been found alive.
Venezuela experienced another earthquake on Friday afternoon as a 4.9-magnitude tremor felt parts of the country.
Following a series of powerful earthquakes in northern Venezuela, India launched ‘Operation Amistad’, dispatching critical medical assistance including Army Field Hospital Unit and over 35 tonnes of emergency relief supplies to earthquake-affected Venezuela.
