Shinde visits Chhattisgarh 6 Days after Bloodbath
Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde finally made a visit to Chhattisgarh on Friday, six days after the bloodbath that stunned the entire nation. He defended his absence citing medical reasons. Congress also defended him in this matter.
However, Opposition BJP severely criticised Shinde for his absence after the Naxal attack.
Shinde met the victims’ families including of Mahendra Karma and state Congress President Nanda Kumar Patel. He also met the injured people in Raipur.
The May 25 attack could be described as an attack on the democracy in which at least 29 people were killed. The Maoists spread terror attacking on a Congress convoy in Darbha Ghati. Senior Congress leader Mahendra Karma, who was the founder of Salwa Judum, was the prime target. He was stabbed 78 times. However, others also lost their lives along with him.
According to the forensic report which was shared with the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the Naxals had used 27 to 30 kilogrammes of explosives during the attack on May 25 on the convoy of Congress leaders. They had used Ammonium Nitrate to make their mission successful. The electric detonators were used with command wire to trigger the blast which left a huge crater on the road. The explosives were used to block and slow down the convoy carrying Congress leaders after which the Naxals started firing.
