Despite repeated promises and welfare schemes by successive governments, thousands are still forced to leave their homes in search of livelihood. Their suffering rarely receives sustained attention until tragedy strikes.

The Odisha government must move beyond compensation and focus on creating employment opportunities, strengthening labour protection mechanisms and ensuring safe migration.
