TNI Bureau: A hotel owner was murdered in Odisha’s Puri town late on Tuesday night, and one of the accused was injured in a police encounter the following morning. The victim, identified as Pabitra Nayak, owned Manorama Hotel in the Baliapanda area of the pilgrim town.
According to police, Pabitra Nayak was attacked by a group of assailants and stabbed to death during a violent altercation. After receiving information about the incident, Baliapanda police reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem examination.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the murder. Preliminary findings suggest that a dispute over hotel rooms rented through the OYO platform may have triggered the attack. Investigators suspect that three to four persons were involved in the crime.
On Wednesday morning, one of the accused, Chandan Kumar Palar, sustained injuries during a police encounter and was admitted to a hospital for treatment.
Police are continuing efforts to trace and arrest the remaining accused. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact motive behind the murder and reconstruct the sequence of events leading to the crime.
