TNI Bureau: Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has strongly criticized the BJP government over the large number of errors reportedly found in Odia textbooks for Classes I to VIII. In a post on social media platform X, Patnaik said the issue reflects the government’s irresponsible and careless attitude towards education.
Naveen alleged that while the government has failed to provide textbooks to students on time, the books that have been distributed contain numerous mistakes, disappointing students and affecting their learning process.
Stating that education is the backbone of life and the foundation of prosperity, he claimed that the education system in the state has deteriorated under the BJP government. He questioned whether such lapses represent the government’s vision for shaping the future of children.
Naveen also expressed concern over errors related to the names of eminent personalities, incorrect spellings, and references identifying Berhampur as a district instead of Ganjam. He said these were serious mistakes and alleged that despite coming to power on the slogan of “Odia Asmita,” the BJP government has done the greatest disservice to the Odia language and script.
Describing the issue as an unacceptable compromise with children’s education, he demanded that the government immediately provide error-free textbooks and ensure quality education for students across the state.
