TNI Bureau: US President Donald Trump has threatened fresh military strikes on Iran and said the United States could take control of Iran’s strategic Kharg Island, a key oil export hub, as tensions between the two countries continue to escalate despite a fragile ceasefire. Trump claimed Iran had delayed peace negotiations and warned that the US would respond forcefully, while also indicating plans to target critical oil and gas infrastructure.
The latest escalation comes after two consecutive days of exchanges between US and Iranian forces. The US launched strikes on Iranian military and communication facilities, while Iran warned of a stronger response to any further action. Iranian officials accused Washington of provoking the conflict, and analysts cautioned that any attempt to seize Kharg Island could significantly widen the confrontation and further destabilise the region.
